Privately Owned Stormwater Facilities
The City is responsible for stormwater facilities within the public right-of way and on public property. Many Lacey neighborhoods and businesses have private stormwater facilities that collect, convey, treat and recycle the stormwater from their parcels. These private facilities are generally owned and maintained by the Home Owner’s Association or local business whose parcels they are collecting stormwater from.
Home Owner Associations
Many neighborhood stormwater facilities are owned by Home Owner Associations (HOA). It is the responsibility of the HOA to inspect and maintain the facility. It is the City’s responsibility to ensure that facilities are in functioning order.
Inspection and Maintenance Forms are to be turned in to Lacey Water Resources by August 31st, each year. The City also has resources to assist with this process including staff assistance, free temporary dumpsters, tool checkout, free educational signs and free annual workshops. All HOAs with private stormwater facilities are invited and encouraged to attend the workshops.
