FREE STORMWATER POND MAINTENANCE WORKSHOP
LACEY, WA, April 6, 2017: The Stormwater Utilities of Lacey, Olympia, Tumwater, and Thurston County, will host a free stormwater pond maintenance workshop Saturday, April 15, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Tumwater City Hall, 555 Israel Rd SW, Tumwater. The free workshop is open to residents and homeowner association (HOA) members of Lacey, Olympia, Tumwater, and Thurston County and registration is required.
Workshop participants will receive information on how to clean and maintain neighborhood stormwater facilities, lists of contractors and other sources of assistance, practice filling out annual maintenance reports required by local jurisdictions, and hands-on experience of stormwater pond maintenance by visiting several area stormwater ponds.
Stormwater ponds are an important tool to prevent localized flooding, reduce erosion, and filter out pollution that can end up in stormwater after a storm.
