CENTER FOR BUSINESS & INNOVATION, THURSTON ECOMONIC DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL PRESS RELEASE: Veterans Microenterprise Program established
Lacey, WA-The Thurston Economic Development Council Center for Business and Innovation announced the establishment of the Veterans Microenterprise Program (VMP). The VMP was approved by the City of Lacey and is funded through a Community Development Block Grant.
The program is designed to help veterans plan, open and operate a small business. Veterans who live in the City of Lacey or the Lacey Urban Growth area, plan to open a business in the City of Lacey and meet the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development “low to moderate income” criteria, which ranges from $41,550 for a one person household to $78,500 for an eight person household, are eligible for enhanced services through VMP.
The veterans will receive free enrollment in the BEST (Business Enterprise Start-up Training) Series, Business plan writing assistance, a facilitated Veterans entrepreneur peer group and opportunity to apply for a grant in the range of $500 to $26,000.
