LACEY DEPUTY MAYOR CYNTHIA PRATT APPOINTED VICE CHAIR TO NATIONAL LEAGUE OF CITIES ENERGY, ENVIRONMENT AND NATURAL RESOURCES STEERING COMMITTEE
LACEY, WA, December 21, 2015: Lacey Deputy Mayor Cynthia Pratt has been appointed as Vice Chair to the National League of Cities (NLC) Energy, Environment and Natural Resources Steering Committee for 2015. This Committee has the lead responsibility for developing NLC federal policy positions on issues involving air quality, water quality, energy policy, national wetlands policy, noise control, and solid and hazardous waste management. The appointment was announced by NLC President Melodee Colbert-Kean, Councilmember, Joplin, Missouri.
“I consider myself a true advocate on environmental issues,” stated Deputy Mayor Pratt. “It’s fitting that I sit as a part of this committee. I’m able to play a role on the national level, but also advocate for our community. That’s very important to me.”
As Vice Chair of the committee, Deputy Mayor Pratt will play a key role in shaping NLC’s policy positions, while advocating on behalf of America’s cities and towns before Congress, with the Administration, and at home.
The Chair of this year’s Energy, Environment and Natural Resources committee is Ron Nirenberg, Councilmember, San Antonio, Texas. Also serving with Pratt as Vice Chair is Sal Panto, Mayor, Easton, Pennsylvania.
The NLC is dedicated to helping city leaders build better communities. It is a resource and advocate for 19,000 cities, towns and villages, representing more than 218 million Americans. For more information on NLC’s other committees and councils, visit www.nlc.org.
