WOODLAND DISTRICT FORM-BASED CODE DISCUSSED THROUGH SERIES OF PUBLIC MEETINGS
LACEY, WA, March 16, 2015: The public is invited to participate in shaping of the Woodland District’s new Form-Based Code through a series of public meetings during the week of March 23, beginning with a public kick-off meeting and hands-on workshop on Monday, March 23, 2015. All meetings will be held at Lacey City Hall, 420 College Street SE.
The City of Lacey is developing a new Form-Based Code for the Woodland District. The new code will guide development in a manner consistent with the Woodland District Strategic Plan to ensure high-quality public spaces defined by a variety of building types and uses including housing, retail, mixed-use, and office space. The new code will incorporate a regulating plan, building form standards, street standards, use regulations as needed, and other elements needed to implement the vision for the Woodland District.
Public meeting dates and other opportunities to engage include:
- March 23, 2015, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.: Public Kick-off Meeting & Hands-on Workshop
- March 24, 2015, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.: Open House
- March 25, 2015, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.: Technical Committee Meeting #3
- March 26, 2015, 5:00 to 6:30 p.m.: Public Presentation
There are several components of Woodland's mixed-use district that make this location ideal for implementing this code. The district, a major employment center for the region, is home to a number of shopping and dining options and site of the Lacey Transit Center. Saint Martin’s University and the Lacey Timberland Regional Library are found directly east of the district and Huntamer Park is situated directly in the center of the area. The district additionally offers unprecedented access to three of the region’s major trail facilities, the Chehalis-Western Trail, the Woodland Trail, and the Interstate 5 Bike Trail.
