LACEY MAYOR ANDY RYDER APPOINTED AS VICE CHAIR TO NATIONAL LEAGUE OF CITIES COMMITTEE, RE-APPOINTED TO ANOTHER
LACEY, WA, January 26, 2015: Lacey Mayor Andy Ryder has been appointed to Vice Chair of the National League of Cities (NLC) Military Communities Council, and has been re-appointed to the Transportation Infrastructure and Services Steering Committee for 2015. The appointments were announced by NLC President Ralph E. Becker, Mayor, Salt Lake City, Utah.
“These are two key committees that I am proud to serve on,” stated Mayor Ryder. “And with recent discussions surrounding possible reductions at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, I feel that it is not only my duty, but an honor to work closely with the Military Communities Council so that I may better serve this community.”
The Military Communities Council (MCC) is made up of local leaders from communities where a military installation is a dominant factor, and provides input and guidance to ensure that the needs and interests of municipal officials from these communities are included in NLC programs and services.
The Transportation Infrastructure and Services Steering Committee has the lead responsibility for developing NLC federal policy positions on issues involving transportation, including planning, funding, safety and security of public transit, streets and highways, aviation, railroads and ports.
The NLC is dedicated to helping city leaders build better communities. It is a resource and advocate for 19,000 cities, towns and villages, representing more than 218 million Americans. For more information on NLC’s other committees and councils, visit www.nlc.org.
