LACEY TO DRILL MONITORING WELL IN BEACHCREST NEIGHBORHOOD
LACEY, WA, July 18, 2014: Crews will begin work on a new well to monitor for possible saltwater intrusion beginning Monday July 21, 2014. The new well, not being used for consumption, will be located in the Beachcrest neighborhood at 5524 Marian Dr. NE.
A portion of the work requires the installation of a new steel casing for the well. A geotechnical investigation and slope stability analysis has been done. Drillers will drive the steel casing into the ground approximately 500 feet. Due to this drilling process, construction noise will be heard by adjacent properties and neighborhoods.
Hours of construction will be limited, however, from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., with no scheduled work on weekends or holidays to minimize disruption caused by construction. Access to properties will not be restricted. Construction of the new monitoring well is expected to be complete by October 2014.
The City of Lacey awarded a contract to Holt Services, Inc., of Edgewood, Washington, for the construction of the new well totaling $278,973.11.
Project updates will be posted on the City’s official website at www.ci.lacey.wa.us. For more information, please call Lacey Water Resources at (360) 459-4494.
