2014 STREET OVERLAY PROJECT
LACEY, WA, July 9, 2014: Beginning this week, the City of Lacey is working on a street overlay project to improve three miles of streets in the neighborhoods of Campus Park, Christa Heights, Classic Heights, and Continental Crest. Work includes street reconstruction, the installation of hot mix asphalt overlays, slurry seals, and other minor reconstruction work.
Additionally, street reconstruction and the widening of Meridian Road NE from Orion Drive to 31st Avenue NE is expected to begin next week, including the reconstruction of a section of 31st Avenue NE adjacent to Meridian Road NE. The project is expected to be completed by the end of August.
Although these streets will remain open to traffic during this work, delays and temporary road and lane closures should be expected. Every effort will be made to maintain access to side streets and driveways. However, access will be limited for short periods until the asphalt has been placed, compacted, and cooled in front of each side street and driveway. Residents are asked to plan accordingly and to work with the flaggers for access. Businesses and residents along streets that normally allow on-street parking will receive notice in advance of the grinding and paving operations to alert them that on-street parking will not be allowed during this work.
Updated traffic advisories will be posted on Lacey’s official website at www.ci.lacey.wa.us.
