PUBLIC FORUM & WORKSHOP ON PROPOSED SIGN REGULATION CHANGES
LACEY, WA, May 20, 2014: The City of Lacey will be holding a public forum and workshop on proposed changes to the city’s sign regulations on Thursday, May 29 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Lacey City Hall, 420 College Street SE. The purpose of the forum is for the public to hear preliminary concepts and recommended changes to the signage regulations as well as provide feedback on the proposals.
Based on changes in economic conditions, new technologies, and neighborhood planning over the past fifteen years, Lacey City Council has identified the update of the sign ordinance as a priority to reflect the needs of the community. The purpose of the proposed sign regulation changes is to enhance business identification, community character, and aesthetics in the community — particularly along highly traveled streets and commercial shopping areas. Makers Architecture will assist in the development of updated signage regulations.
A sign committee has been formed as a community-based approach, with representation from community businesses, groups, and citizens, as well as the city. The committee will be taking public feedback at the workshop and will complete a draft recommended version of the sign regulation updates to the Planning Commission for review.
