HOLIDAY TREE PICK UP
LACEY, WA, December 27, 2013: If you live within Lacey city limits, local Boy Scouts, with the support of LeMay/Pacific Disposal, will be picking up holiday trees for composting. Trees must be at the curb on Saturday, January 4, 2014, by 8:00 a.m. for pick up.
In early December, Boy Scouts hung informational door hangers in neighborhoods within the pick up area. Participating Boy Scouts include Troops 222, 9101,718, 226, and 48, along with Packs 116, 9208, and 9215.
Apartment and mobile home residents should check with managers for locations to place their trees. Subscribers to Pacific Disposal’s yard debris pick up service may cut their tree into 3-foot sections and place it in or next to their yard waste container on their normal collection day.
If you miss the pick up day or live outside of city limits, trees can be taken to the Thurston County Waste and Recovery Center at 2420 Hogum Bay Road NE in Lacey. Trees may be dropped off through January 12 (except New Year’s Day). For more holiday tree recycling and drop-off locations, visit Thurston County’s website at www.co.thurston.wa.us.
Trees that have stands, ornaments, tinsel, or nails will not be accepted as they cannot be composted. For more information, contact the Lacey Public Affairs Office at (360) 491-3214.
