LACEY ALTERNATIVE ENERGY FAIR TO SHOWCASE GREEN ENERGY
LACEY, WA, April 25, 2013: The Lacey Alternative Energy Fair will celebrate 16 years of showcasing green energy — including alternative fuels, renewable resources, and energy conservation and efficiency — on Saturday, May 4, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Lacey’s Huntamer Park. The event also features the Lacey Grand Prix Electric Car Race, free entertainment, and a 90-mile MPG rally.
The Grand Prix highlights high school clubs and hobbyists from around the Northwest — including a team from River Ridge High School — competing to drive custom electric vehicles for the longest total distance in one hour. High school and open division races begin at 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., with winners announced during a 3:00 p.m. ceremony.
MPG Rally participants will attempt to beat Environmental Protection Agency miles-per-gallon ratings for their vehicles. Registration for the rally will be held from 8:45 to 9:15 a.m. the day of the event.
Numerous informational displays will feature residential solar and wind technologies; energy-saving construction techniques; and vehicles powered by electricity, biodiesel, and natural gas.
The event also includes a visit from Captain Recycle. The captain, piloting his amazing recycle boat, will engage fair attendees with interactive games and activities themed around recycling and conservation.
