CITY OF LACEY TO HOST OPEN HOUSE REGARDING UPDATES TO ITS COMPREHENSIVE PLAN FOR OUTDOOR RECREATION AND SHORELINE MASTER PROGRAM
LACEY, WA, January 8, 2010: The City of Lacey is seeking public comment on updates to its Comprehensive Plan for Outdoor Recreation and the Shoreline Master Program at an open house that will be held Tuesday, January 19, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Lacey City Hall, 420 College Street SE. The open house will provide residents with an opportunity to review the planning process and have one-on-one conversations with city staff.
The city updates its Comprehensive Plan for Outdoor Recreation every six years. The plan establishes goals and objectives that guide the provision of park, open space, and recreational facilities to Lacey residents and visitors. The city and its associated urban growth area are divided into distinct planning areas that are assessed on the basis of current and projected demand, ensuring parks and facilities are adequately located throughout the community.
Public comment on the plan will help identify improvements that are needed at existing parks, additional recreational programs and facilities that will enhance the system, and locations of future parks and open spaces.
The Shoreline Master Program will guide the long-term protection and restoration of shoreline resources, including access, water quality, and natural functions. The open house will provide an opportunity to learn how previous public comments regarding the plan have been incorporated into the planning process.
As Lacey’s shorelines are an important component in both the Comprehensive Plan for Outdoor Recreation and the Shoreline Master Program, the event will allow participants to learn about and discuss the relationship of the two plans.
If you are unable to attend the open house but would like to provide comments or receive additional information, please contact Lacey parks director Lori Flemm at email@example.com or (360) 491-0857, or principal planner David Burns at firstname.lastname@example.org or (360) 483-2637.
