LACEY COMMUNITY MARKET OPENS FOR 2012 SEASON
LACEY, WA, July, 5, 2012: Summer 2012 marks the ninth season the City of Lacey will host a traditional open air market at Huntamer Park. This year, the Lacey Community Market will be held the second Saturday of each month—July 14, August 11, and September 8 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The Lacey Community Market offers a bounty of traditional market items including seasonal produce and fresh-cut flowers, breads, honey, and locally-made and harvested foods. You will also find crafts, hand-made jewelry, furniture, antiques, collectibles, forgotten treasures, refreshments and local cuisine (i.e., barbeque, ethnic foods, and many other delicious treats). Nearly 80 vendors are expected to line the streets for a distinct shopping experience.
“Home and Garden Day”— with a wide array of home and garden vendors and live music— kicks off the market season on July 14. Earn a prize if you can “Elude the Garden Experts” with your challenging gardening question. Experts will be on stage from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Learn more tips from the experts with demonstrations throughout the day—backyard chickens, container gardening, and “Top 20 Garden Mistakes.” Enjoy the jump swing sounds of 7 on 7, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
On August 11, come to the market for “Heritage Day” and celebrate the diverse cultural traditions of our community. You won't want to miss performances by Mukana Marimba, Los Flacos, Hui O' Hawai'i, and Break Dancers. Plus, a tumble bus and activities for the youngsters.
Wrap up the 2012 season on September 8 “Pet Day” with activities, demonstrations, vendors, and services tailored to people and pets. Visitors to the market will enjoy bluegrass music by the Grays Harbor Banjo Band and Cricket on the Hearth—with low-cost pet microchip services, a pet look-alike contest, and Thurston County Sheriff’s K-9 Unit demonstration.
You’ll find it all at the Lacey Community Market, located at beautiful Huntamer Park, just off College Street SE at 7th Avenue SE in Lacey. For more information, visit www.ci.lacey.wa.us/market or call Sharon Kagy, market manager, at (360) 791-7632.
