CAPITAL AREA REGIONAL PUBLIC FACILITIES DISTRICT BOARD ELECTION
LACEY, WA, March 22, 2012: Former Olympia Mayor Mark Foutch has been elected President of the Capital Area Regional Public Facilities District (CAR-PFD) Board of Directors. Foutch replaces former Lacey Mayor Jon Halvorson, who has presided over the CAR-PFD Board since its creation in 2003.
The Board also re-elected Ken Parsons as Secretary-Treasurer, and welcomed former Lacey Mayor Nancy Peterson as a new regional member. Other board members include Dennis Reid, Chris Leicht, David Brine, and Trent Grantham.
The PFD Board oversees distribution of the 0.033% state sales and use tax authorized pursuant to RCW 82.14.390 to finance the construction, maintenance and operation of the Regional Athletic Center in east Lacey, and the Hands on Children's Museum nearing completion in Olympia. The tax expires 25 years after the date the sales tax was first collected in 2003.
The Board, which meets annually, is made up of three members representing the region as a whole and four representing each of the four major jurisdictions―Lacey, Olympia, Tumwater and Thurston County.
