TEMPORARY LANE CLOSURES AND NIGHT WORK AT CARPENTER ROAD SE INTERSECTIONS
LACEY, WA, March 2, 2012: Beginning Monday, March 5, 2012, there will be increased construction activity at the intersection of Martin Way E/Carpenter Road SE and at the intersection of Pacific Avenue SE/Carpenter Road SE. Crews will be installing mast arms on the new traffic signal poles. Traffic control setup will begin at 7:00 p.m. Signals will transfer to flash mode with flaggers directing traffic around 8:00 p.m. It is recommended to plan extra time to travel through these intersections or to use alternate routes if possible. The mast arms at the Martin Way E intersection signals will be installed first. Traffic signal work is expected to be complete by Wednesday, March 7 at both intersections.
Night work to install the reclaimed water main across Pacific Avenue SE on Carpenter Road SE is complete. However, there will be delays and temporary lane closures during the day to continue installation of the main on Carpenter Road SE, south of Pacific Avenue.
This work is part of the Carpenter Road Reconstruction project which will widen the roadway between Pacific Avenue SE and Martin Way E to four traffic lanes, including bike lanes, sidewalks, planter strips, and street lighting. The project also includes the installation of a reclaimed water main, relocation of the sanitary sewer lift station, undergrounding of overhead utility lines, signal modifications at Pacific Avenue SE and at Martin Way E intersections, and wetland restoration at Woodland Creek Community Park. Construction is funded by grants from the Transportation Improvement Board and the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency, in addition to funds from Thurston County and the City of Lacey.
Updated traffic advisories are posted on Lacey’s official website at www.ci.lacey.wa.us.
