CELEBRATE THE NEW YEAR — TAKE THE POLAR BEAR PLUNGE
LACEY, WA, December 21, 2011: Join fellow enthusiasts in this chilling ritual of bringing in the New Year. Take the “Polar Bear Plunge” on Sunday, January 1, 2012. Festivities begin at 12:00 p.m. with music and fun for all. The plunge starts promptly at 1:00 p.m. It all happens at Long Lake Park, 2790 Carpenter Road SE, in Lacey.
Enjoy campfires and free hot cocoa. Brave the plunge, or stay warm and dry on shore and cheer for the swimmers. Costumes are encouraged. All ages are welcome to participate.
At the event, donations will be accepted for the “Bucks for New Year’s Luck” campaign. All monies collected will be used to support the Playground Pals Program. This summer program provides free lunches and recreation activities to hundreds of children at three school sites in Lacey.
