LACEY TO REPLACE CITY WELL AT JUDD STREET SITE
LACEY, WA, May 20, 2011: Crews will begin work on a replacement well beginning Monday, May 23, 2011, located at the Judd Street well site. The new well will increase water production at this location from 250 gallons per minute to 600 gallons per minute.
A portion of the work requires the installation of a new steel casing for the well. Drillers will drive the steel casing into the ground approximately 300 feet. Due to this drilling process, construction noise will be heard by adjacent properties and neighborhoods.
Hours of construction will be limited, however, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with no scheduled work on weekends or holidays to minimize disruption caused by construction.
Additionally, a portion of Judd Street SE, between 23rd Avenue SE and 24th Avenue SE, will be barricaded off during the project but access to properties will not be restricted. Construction of the new well is expected to be complete by August 2011.
The City of Lacey awarded a contract to Holt Services, Inc., of Lakewood, Washington, for the construction of the new well totaling $132,500.
Project updates will be posted on the City’s official website at www.ci.lacey.wa.us. For more information, please call Lacey Water Resources at (360) 491-5600.
