LACEY HOSTS ETHNIC CELEBRATION
LACEY, WA, January 21, 2011: The 2011 Ethnic Celebration comes to Lacey, Washington, on Saturday, January 22, 2011. Cultural demonstrations and displays from over 40 community resource organizations will be featured at this year’s event. And, over 27 local artist groups, representing various cultures and traditions from around the world, will perform music and dance on three separate performance stages at Saint Martin’s University Worthington Center and Marcus Pavilion (5300 Pacific Ave SE.) from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Admission to this community event is free.
In addition, visitors will be able to sample cuisine and traditional foods as well as purchase arts and crafts from a wide variety of vendors. Kids will also enjoy the free hands-on craft activities.
The Ethnic Celebration continues the following week with a special Community Talk Series held at the Lacey City Hall. The Olympia Peace Corps Association will lead a conversation on their most recent experience on Monday, January 24. Scottish heritage will be the focus for a Tuesday, January 25 discussion, and on Wednesday, January 26, the Community Talk Series will conclude the Ethnic Celebration activities with a panel discussion lead by the Olympia/Kato Sister City Association and a musical demonstration from the India South Sound Association. All Community Talk Series events begin at 6:00 p.m. and end at 7:00 p.m.
The 2011 Ethnic Celebration is sponsored by the City of Lacey and North Thurston Public Schools. This year’s event sponsors include Saint Martin’s University, OBee Credit Union, Olympia Federal Savings, Washington State Arts Commission, National Endowment for the Arts, 94.5 Roxy, and Lacey and Capital Collision.
