LACEY, WA, June 30, 2014: The City of Lacey is offering a homeowners’ association meeting and networking opportunity on Wednesday, July 9 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Lacey City Hall Council Chambers, 420 College Street SE.

LACEY, WA, June 27, 2014: The recently constructed Woodland Creek Groundwater Recharge Facility, located in Lacey’s Woodland Creek Community Park, has received the 2014 Excellence in Engineering award by the American Water Works Association’s Pacific Northwest Section, in the medium project category. This state-of-the-art facility uses reclaimed water to recharge shallow aquifers feeding into Lacey’s Woodland Creek and helps stabilize and restore stream flows.

LACEY, WA, June 26, 2014: Lacey continues its tradition of kicking off the area’s Independence Day celebrations with the Lacey Fireworks Spectacular on Thursday, July 3. The 15 minute display will be launched from William Bush Park, 4400 Chardonnay Drive NE in Lacey, beginning at 10:15 p.m. Bush Park will be closed to preserve a safe zone for the fireworks launch, but the display will be visible to most residences located within 3/4 miles. Additionally, the public is invited to view the Spectacular from the Lacey Crossroads business area at Yelm Highway and College Street.

The cities of Lacey and Olympia remind residents and visitors that the sale and discharge of consumer (personal) fireworks are not allowed in either community. Novelty devices such as snakes, glowworms, and party poppers are permitted; however sparklers and all other types of fireworks are not. Fireworks purchased elsewhere, such as at tribal stands or fireworks sales booths in other communities, may not be used in Lacey or Olympia.

LACEY, WA, June 13, 2014: Lacey Museum volunteer Richard Jones has been named as the city’s 2014 Historian of the Year by Mayor Andy Ryder and the Lacey City Council. Lacey’s Historical Commission unanimously approved the nomination in recognition of Jones’ breadth of knowledge about the early days of Lacey’s incorporation and volunteer work at the museum.
