WATER RESOURCES

Wastewater Programs and Services

The City of Lacey Wastewater Utility currently serves about 44,000 people.  The utility ensures that wastewater from Lacey is properly collected from sinks, drains, and toilets and delivered safely to the LOTT Clean Water Alliance Wastewater Treatment Plant.  Some of the wastewater that is collected is delivered to the Hawks Prairie Reclaimed Water Facility, where it's reclaimed and turned into a valuable resource.  Learn more about the City of Lacey’s Reclaimed Water Program.

City of Lacey 2005 Wastewater Comprehensive Plan Update

You can help us prevent clogs or damage by keeping the following items out of your toilet, sinks, and drains:
Fats, oils, or greases (which includes meat fats, gravy and sauces, cooking oil, shortening, butter, salad dressing, mayonnaise, etc.).
Garbage (including band aids, cigarettes, coffee grounds, cotton balls, dental floss, diapers, ear swabs, egg shells, gold fish, hair balls, hygiene products, paper towels, rubber gloves, twist ties, baby wipes, etc.).

Flammable or explosive materials.
  Yard and garden chemicals.
Unused medications or other medical wastes: a prescription drug disposal box is now located near the Police Department entry at Lacey City Hall, 420 College Street SE, for convenient and secure disposal of unwanted or expired medicines.  The box is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  For more information about this new service, please call (360) 459-4333.
 Hair or tanning dyes.
Pet waste or cat litter.  For more information, visit our Pets and Poop page.
A good rule of thumb: flush only toilet paper and what comes out of your body.
