City and Regionally Owned Stormwater Facilities
The City of Lacey manages a large and complex storm drainage system to collect, convey, treat and recycle stormwater runoff within the city. The collection and conveyance systems consist of catch basins with inlet grates located primarily within the right-of-way of our public streets. Lacey has more than 4,900 catch basins, which drain to a subsurface storm sewer system consisting of more than 90 miles of storm drain pipe. Some areas have open ditches or swales to collect and convey runoff water.
The City storm system drains to more than 50 regional stormwater facilities, which provide for water quality treatment prior to recycling cleaner water back to nature by infiltration into the ground or release into surface waters.
