Services and Permits

The following services are provided by the Lacey Police Department for the benefit of Lacey residents. These direct services range from issuing protective orders to conducting vacation house checks. In addition, the Department is responsible for the administration and issuance of permits granting specific rights within the City of Lacey.

Public Records Request
To obtain a copy of a police report or other police record, download a public records request form and submit your request in writing to the Lacey Police Department via email, mail, or in person. All information subject to public disclosure laws. more »

Fingerprinting
The Lacey Police Department offers fingerprinting services to the public. All applicants must have a valid picture ID. Services are only available during limited business hours at the Police Department front counter. more »

Concealed Pistol License
The Lacey Police Department can issue a Concealed Pistol License (CPL) to Lacey residents who meet the requirements through the Washington State Department of Licensing. Applications are processed during limited business hours. more »

Garage Sale Permits—No Longer Required
On May 10, 2012, the Lacey City Council passed Ordinance 1392, removing the license requirement for garage sales. City residents are no longer required to obtain a garage sale permit.

Vacation House Checks
If you are going on vacation or will be away from your residence for an extended period of time, the Lacey Police Department Senior Patrol could help to monitor your home. Lacey residents can request regular visual inspections from volunteer officers. more »

Prescription Drug Disposal
The prescription drug disposal drop box is a secure and convenient way to dispose of leftover or out-of-date prescription medicines. The drop box is located outside the main entrance of the Lacey Police Department, 420 College St SE for 24-hour access. more »

Criminal Background Check
The Lacey Police Department can provide limited criminal background checks for individual citizens, based on records obtained from criminal convictions in Lacey. Statewide background checks are available through Washington State Patrol. more »

Protection Order Service
The Department provides "Protection Order" services for Lacey residents who are victims of harassment. If you have been granted a form of protection order, Lacey Police can serve the paperwork if the restrained party lives within the Lacey city limits. more »

Notary Service
The Lacey Police Department offers notary service to citizens. A notary public is an individual who is licensed to witness signatures on official documents. The cost is $3.00 per notary. The service is available at Lacey City Hall. more »

Bicycle Registration
Licensing can assist police in verifying ownership of property, should it be lost or stolen. The Lacey Police Department offers a voluntary bicycle registration program to residents. There is no fee to license a bicycle in Lacey. more »
