REPORT A CRIME
Graffiti Cleanup
Graffiti is a form of vandalism used by taggers or gangs to mark territory, send messages or threaten other groups. Based on our experience, covering the graffiti or tagging immediately reduces the vandals motivation to continue.
This also sends a message to the community that we take pride in our city and will not tolerate this type of criminal activity. In an effort to reduce the negative effects of graffiti and tagging within our community, we are asking the public and property owners to assist us in responding to graffiti as soon as it appears.
If you are aware of graffiti, or if you have graffiti on your property that you are unable to clean up, please call and report the incident of graffiti and the location to
the Police Department at (360) 459-4333. The Police Department understands that not all citizens have the resources to
effectively respond to graffiti that appears on private property. As a result, the department has formed a partnership with local retailers and
several of the police department’s volunteers to help clean or cover
over the graffiti with primer paint. Volunteers, however, will need permission
from the property owner to cover the vandalism if this resource is utilized.
Please also help your community by reporting graffiti or tagging that appears on city property such as parks or within public rights-of-way. The city responds to and cleans up graffiti on city maintained property but may be unaware of recent occurrences of this type of vandalism.
By working together as a
community, we can successfully respond to this issue.
