On November 5 at approximately 1:48 AM, Lacey officers were dispatched to a domestic disturbance occurring at a residence in the 5600 block of College Street S.E.
While officers were in route, the caller informed the 911 center that her boyfriend was armed with a knife and the call was terminated. Moments later, the caller was back on the line, stating that she had been stabbed and was barricaded in an upstairs room with her child. Upon arrival, an officer observed the male suspect in an upstairs window presenting a defiant gesture toward the officer. When the suspect refused to answer the front door, officers forced entry and encountered him standing at the top of a stairwell. After several minutes of negotiating with the suspect, he came to a lower landing, but refused to come down and turned to go back toward where the room where the injured victim and child were. The officers approached the suspect and after a lengthy physical struggle, brought him down the stairwell took him into custody. The victim and her child were located in an upstairs room, and she had received several serious stab wounds. She was transported to St Peter Hospital and was admitted. She remains in stable condition. The child did not receive any injuries.
The suspect was transported and booked into the Thurston County Jail for Attempted 1st Degree Murder.
He is identified as Alex Althauser, a 35 year old Lacey resident.
