The Lacey Police Department sponsors a free Student's Academy tailored
specifically for teenagers living within the greater Lacey community.
The academy is open to anyone interested in law enforcement, or wanting
to gain a greater understanding of the duties of a police officer.
Students
considering a future career in law enforcement will also find academy
topics insightful.
The academy is taught by the Lacey Police Department's three School Resource Officers. Students will also have the opportunity to meet with the Chief of Police and other key staff members. All participants are encouraged to ask questions and express opinions in order to fully benefit from the instruction offered by the Student's Police Academy.
Requirements:
- Parental and Principal approval
- A student in good standing
- Must be passing all classes with a 2.0 or above
Course topics covered throughout the academy will include but are not limited to the following:
- Crime Scene Investigation / Forensic Evidence
- DRE - Drug Recognition Expert
- Traffic and DUI Enforcement
- Use of Force - Firearms
- Crime Scene Investigation (Practical)
