VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

The Parks and Recreation Department offers outstanding volunteer opportunities for individuals and groups looking for meaningful avenues to make a difference within the community.  In fact, Lacey residents contribute more than 10,000 hours of volunteer service to municipal projects and programs annually.  Whether by enhancing local recreational opportunities as a member of the Board of Parks Commissioners, preserving local history through the Historical Commission, improving a park's environment with a habitat restoration project, or providing safe and enjoyable venues for young people to socialize by assisting at a youth or family event, you'll be helping to make Lacey an even better place to live, work and play.

Scouting Volunteer Opportunities
The City of Lacey offers numerous volunteer opportunities for boy scouts who are working to earn their eagle advancement; girl scouts who are working toward their Gold Award; and scouts who need service hours, or are earning badges.  City staff identifies several projects each year, but scouts are encouraged to use their creativity and propose an original project.  Please contact staff if you have questions about a particular project.  Once you chose a project we recommend that you obtain our staff signature approving your project immediately, so that another scout doesn't select the same project and get project approval.

We offer scouts the opportunity to work with the City of Lacey Parks and Recreation Department on the following projects in 2013:

Construction of a kiosk at Lake Lois Habitat Reserve

Construction of a kiosk at Rainier Vista Community Park sand volleyball courts

Contact Cody Lee at (360) 491-0857 for additional information about scout projects in Lacey parks, habitat reserves, and trails.
