Parks and Recreation

Print page

Welcome to Lacey Parks and Recreation.  The department serves the community by providing health, inspiration and recreation opportunities through quality programming, facilities and community events.  In addition, the department furthers the preservation and enhancement of the environment through planned parks, open spaces and natural habitat areas.

With over 1,100 acres of parkland and open space, a premier regional athletic complex and several community buildings, Lacey's residents and visitors enjoy one of the finest municipal park networks in the state.  An array of recreation programs and special events are also offered, including cultural, sports, aquatics, fitness, outdoor, youth and teen programs.

Parks and Trails
If you love the great outdoors, you'll love Lacey.  With hundreds of acres of in-city parkland, the sparkling waters of Puget Sound at our doorstep, and the Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge forming our eastern edge, recreation opportunities are virtually unlimited.  Discover more under Parks and Facilities.

Recreation Programs
We offer an activity for almost any interest and skill level.  Hone your musical, cooking, or dancing skills.  Take a guided hike in the mountains or discover kayaking on Puget Sound.  Improve your technique in a favorite sport, or join a league for friendly competitive play.  Discover more under Recreation Programs.

Regional Athletic Complex

Regarded as one of the premier outdoor sporting venues in the state, the 100-acre Regional Athletic Complex features regulation soccer, baseball and softball fields (many with all-weather turf and lighting), electronic score boards, concessions, picnic shelters, spectator seating and parking for 500 vehicles.

Community Buildings & Event Facilities
We operate a number of facilities that provide venues for park events, programing and classes.  Many, including the Lacey Community Center and historic Jacob Smith House, are available on a rental basis for meetings, receptions and other functions.  Visit Community Buildings to learn more.
