VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Reserve Police Officer
Lacey Police Reserves are a vital resource to the department. They supplement patrol officers in the performance of patrol duties and assist and represent the department at many different functions and events such as Lacey Fun Fair, Capitol City Marathon, Halloween Stop and Treat, The Motorcycle Toy Run and The South Sound Center Fireworks show.
These talented and diverse volunteers complete an extensive academy and are certified by the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission. They have passed rigorous testing and a selection process that included an oral interview, a psychological test, polygraph testing and extensive background check. They are required to volunteer a minimum of 16 hours a month and maintain certification in vital critical skills such as firearms qualification, defensive tactics, and emergency vehicle operation.
Qualifications
Individuals interested in being reserve officers must be 21 years of age and pass a rigorous screening process including a background investigation, psychological exam and a polygraph test. The City only accepts applications for Reserve Officers when positions are open.
