CONDUCTING BUSINESS
Business Licensing
Every business operating in the City of Lacey must be registered with the city. This includes in-home businesses, in-city businesses (owned and operated in the city), out-of-city businesses that have transactions in Lacey, and temporary businesses (fruit stands, tree sales, and car sales). A Business Registration Application
must be submitted to the Finance Department with the appropriate fees. See New Business Registration
pamphlet for more information. The review and approval process requires ten business days. If your business complies with all of the review and certification processes, a registration certificate is issued. Certificates are renewed annually provided Business and Occupation (B&O) taxes are current.
Certain business activities such as daycare services, mechanical music machines, for-hire vehicles, towing services, and pawnbrokers have additional registration requirements. For complete information regarding the business activities that require additional registration requirements, review the Lacey Municipal Code Title 5: Business Licenses, Registration, and Regulations. Contact the Finance Department if your business activity requires additional registration requirements.
