MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE LACEY CITY COUNCIL HELD THURSDAY, CALL TO ORDER:
NOVEMBER 15, 2007, AT LACEY COUNCIL CHAMBERS.

Councilmember Darby introduced Mike Dexter as the new Director of the Olympia, Lacey, Tumwater Visitor & Convention Bureau. ORDINANCES:
Ordinance (1298) amends Sections 2.09.020 and 2.10.010 of the Lacey Municipal Code to increase Council compensation by $50/month annually, increase the Mayor’s compensation to $225/month, and increase the Deputy Mayor’s compensation to $115/month.
Ken Ahlf, City Attorney, stated currently, the compensation of Councilmembers is increased each year by the sum of $25/month for years subsequent to 2007. The Mayor currently receives an additional $100/month for serving as Mayor, and the Deputy Mayor receives an additional $50/month for serving as Deputy Mayor.
The increase would not apply to Councilmembers not elected to a new term in the fall of 2007 until they are elected to new terms in subsequent years. Those Councilmembers chosen as Mayor and Deputy Mayor in January 2008, would be entitled to the increase after they are elected by Council to these positions. COUNCILMEMBER SACKRISON MOVED TO APPROVE ORDINANCE (1298) TO AMEND SECTIONS 2.09.020 AND 2.10.010 OF THE LACEY MUNICIPAL CODE TO INCREASE COUNCIL, MAYOR AND DEPUTY MAYOR SALARY COMPENSATIONS. COUNCILMEMBER DEAN SECONDED. MOTION CARRIED.
CITY MANAGER'S REPORT:
Greg Cuoio, City Manager, presented the 2008 proposed budget to the City Council which totals $147,780,034, a $19,652,195 increase from the amended 2007 budget. This increase is directly associated with significant capital improvement projects including the expansion of the Regional Athletic Complex, construction of a 25,000 square foot addition to city hall, roadway and street rehabilitation, completion of an $11 million water treatment plant, lift station and sewer interceptor construction, finalization of the St. Martin’s stormwater treatment facility, continued Woodland Trail development, and the construction of reclaimed water utility infrastructure. A public hearing will be held on December 6, 2007, and the 2008 final budget adopted on December 20, 2007.ADJOURNMENT:
