How to Apply to Serve as a Planning Commissioner
The City of Lacey accepts application packets from citizens interested in serving on the Planning Commission on a continuous basis, whether or not there is a current opening. Application packets are kept on file for a period of one year from date of receipt and are considered each time a position becomes available. Applicants may be contacted by the Mayor to discuss the responsibilities of the position and interest in serving. The full City Council affirms citizen board and commission appointments based on the recommendation of the Mayor.
Applicants with a variety of skills, interests and experiences are encouraged to apply.
Seven members of the Planning Commission must reside within the City of Lacey; two members must reside within the city or the Lacey Urban Growth Area (UGA).
Members must be able to commit to twice-monthly commission meetings, occasional joint planning sessions, and required preparation time.
TERMS OF OFFICE
Planning Commissioners serve 3-year terms with a 2-term service limit.
All commission members serve in a volunteer capacity.
