How to Apply to Serve as a Library Board Youth Representative
Each spring, the Lacey City Council recruits youth representatives to serve on the Parks Board, the Lacey Historical Commission, and the Lacey Library Board. Youth Representatives are full-voting members of the board or commission on which they serve.
Applications are accepted between April 1 to June 1 for consideration of 1-year appointments that begin the following September. All applicants will be invited to participate in an interview process. The full City Council affirms Youth Representative appointments based on the recommendation of the Mayor.
Students with a variety of skills, interests and experiences are encouraged to apply for this unique opportunity.
Applicants must reside within the City of Lacey or the Lacey Urban Growth Area (UGA) and must be enrolled as a junior or senior at a public, private, or home school within the North Thurston Public Schools district.
Youth Representatives must be 16 to 18 years of age (at time of appointment, not application)
Youth Representatives must be able to commit to monthly board meetings plus required preparation time.
TERMS OF OFFICE
Youth Representatives serve a 1-year term running September 1 to August 31, with a 1-term service limit.
All commission members serve in a volunteer capacity.

- Stop by the City Manager's Office at Lacey City Hall, 420 College Street SE, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday; or
- Visit the Career Center at any NTPS high school; or
